Home Sweet Home...Why is a house called 'beisa'? Because, it implies come and sit in it, (BAH - VASHEV - BAH) 77b. Aramaic, a derivative of Hebrew, is not a mere collection of words agreed upon by the local populace, but its words have deeper meanings, and allude to the correct way of life. Not every dwelling place is befitting to be referred to as a 'house', which represents solidity and continuity. Only a house in which the owner acts as a host and invites guests and cares for the needy can be considered a true home in the eyes of the Torah. Please note that Halacha Lemaaseh should not be derived from this article. For halachic matters please consult your rabbi. |
